BOSTON (WHDH) -- Celtics fans cheered Sunday's win, but not everyone had heard the news that all-star point guard Rajon Rondo was out for the season with a torn ACL.

“He’s out for the season? I didn’t know that. Torn ACL? Well, maybe we'll start winning some games, right?” said a fan.

Fans said there were no announcements at the TD Garden Sunday. Rondo was seen in the second half sitting on the bench. Vendors are just now hearing of the season-ending injury.

“Oh! He'll be back, he’ll be back. That’s all I’m gonna say,” said a vendor.

It's believed Rondo hurt himself against Atlanta. It was the team's 6th loss in a row, but this one could be their biggest loss. Fans are worried.

“Kinda yea, Rondo’s a big part of the Celtics,” said a fan.

“Of course it hurts the team. Anybody that’s out, that hurts the team,” said a fan.

But after the Celtics beat the Miami Heat in overtime, many still have faith.

“They obviously need Rondo, but they’ve got Pierce, KG. They got everybody else so we’re good,” said a fan.

“Boy, you’d think they’d be really ruined but look what they did today,” said a fan.

“I’m not too worried about it. I think we still have a pretty good shot. Still winning games as you can clearly see today. We did alright, we did alright” said a fan.

It can take up to a year to recover from ACL injuries.
