BOSTON (WHDH) -- Police are searching for the suspects who beat and robbed a 14-year-old boy at a Boston ‘T’ stop.

Tina Nguyen said her 14-year-old son faces a long recovery after he was attacked Thursday on his way to school. She spoke to 7News through a translator. She said her son is bruised all over.

“Over here too and on the back and over here is more. The eye is black,” said Nguyen.

It happened on Crescent Street. Nguyen said her son was walking near the JFK/UMass T-stop around 7 a.m. Thursday when two men jumped him. They got away with an iPhone and $6. The teen was so badly injured he couldn't make out his attackers.

“He says they're much taller than him and they have hood, so he cannot tell how old,” said Nguyen.

Police are investigating, but so far haven't made any arrests. Nguyen’s son was taken to Boston Medical Center. He returned home on Friday.

He is scheduled to undergo surgery on his face this Tuesday.

“She says the boy will be very, very scared to walk to train again. Because he is so young, just 14 and now he is very scared to go to school by himself,” said Nguyen's translator.

There is no word when the 14-year-old will return to school. The boy’s family is hoping their story will inspire more security near the station and will teach others to be careful of their surroundings.
