Attack prompts reinstatment of muzzling law
BOSTON (WHDH) -- Mayor Menino said he wants to bring back a law forcing pit bulls to be muzzled in public.
The law’s reinstatement comes after a pit bull attack on Friday in East Boston.
A new state law takes effect next month that prevents discrimination against particular breeds.
The mayor's office said, "The mayor believes this is a community rights issue. The state went forward with its action without consulting the cities and towns affected and Boston will be aggressive in working to deal with what we view as a public safety issue."
