EAST BOSTON, Mass. (WHDH) -- Police are searching for the man who is accused of attacking two women in East Boston.

Officers say the man broke into the victims' apartment Wednesday night, held them at gunpoint, and then beat one with the gun.

One woman managed to escape and ran for help.

"Picture your worst horror movie, just absolute blood-curdling top of your lungs, unrecognizable screaming. That is what got my attention," said witness Mike Anderson.

"It’s scary. We don't know if they were targeted because they've only been here maybe two months. They're recent, they're new to the neighborhood," said Anderson.

Officers are encouraging everyone in the area to be cautious.
