Tardy school bus causes mother to panic

BRIGHTON, Mass. (WHDH) -- A school bus was extremely tardy when dropping off a 4-year-old child after school, causing her mother to panic.
Keosha Francis can hardly believe it. She said after starting Kindergarten at the Baldwin Early Learning Center in Brighton on Monday, her daughter, Saniyah, was twice dropped off by her school bus late; an hour and a half on Wednesday, two and a half hours Thursday, when she said her daughter got home at 8:00 p.m.
“At that time she's usually getting ready for bed,” said Francis.
Francis said she was left standing at her daughter's bus stop in a panic, frantically calling around trying to find Saniya's bus.
“I was very upset. Worried, upset, I was thinking the worst," said Francis.
Francis said school officials told her the first mishap occurred when Saniya's bus driver took her to the wrong bus stop. The second, when her bus driver didn't show up and another driver had to take two loads of kids home.
“She doesn’t really know what’s going on. She just knows she came home, it was dark, she was tired, she fell asleep on the bus,” said Francis.
Francis' troubles come after a previous year of numerous complaints about late school buses in Boston. A new transportation director was hired this year. A Boston Schools spokesman called the new complaints troubling and said the matter is being looked into.
“It happened two days in a row. My child is four years old. Both days I got no phone calls, didn’t know where she was for the first half hour, hour. Today is Friday. I didn’t let her ride the bus when that could happen again. She doesn’t deserve it and neither do I,” said Francis.
Francis said she may resume letting her daughter ride the school bus in the future if the problem is resolved. In the meantime, she plans to continue inquiring about the situation so this doesn’t happen to another child.
