MSPCA-Angell's Pet of the Week: Jesse the Dog

It’s hard to believe what Jesse, who's not even one year old, has been through. The small, playfully sweet dog was bought at a pet store and then surrendered to the MSPCA-Angell Adoption Center last month after he was hit by a car and his owners opted not to provide for his care. The little dog was critically injured in the accident and had to have his right rear leg amputated.  Despite having only three legs -- and having no home to call his own -- Jesse's energy, warm snuggles and super-friendly personality have won him many fans at the MSPCA.

Jesse is recovering well from his surgery and is ready to go to a forever home. As the attached video shows, having only three legs has not deterred him in the slightest from being the fun and energetic dog he was meant to be. However, because he has only three legs, and is quite small (under 10 lbs) the MSPCA would prefer to place him in a home without children. He’s afraid of cats but the MSPCA believes he’ll ultimately do fine in a cat-owning household, so long as introductions are made very slowly. He's a young fellow who needs a healthy amount of exercise.  His favorite play activity involves chasing squeaky toys and snuggling with stuffed animals. And he’s great at fetch!
