Dozens of parents and their kids packed Seapoint Bar and Grill in South Boston to see Aly lead the U.S. women’s gymnastics team to their first gold medal in 16 years.
“My daughter who’s a wee gymnast said, ‘Mommy, here’s your gold medal. Go celebrate,’ so here I am,” said Kathy Seero.
The kids who stayed up late to watch Raisman and Team U.S.A. couldn't believe they were watching -- literally -- the girl next door dominate on the world stage.
“It’s really weird but it’s also really cool to tell people that we know Aly and we’ve met her before,” said Anna Clark, Aly’s neighbor.
For the parents, it was surreal seeing Aly earn gold and in turn, become a household name all over the world.
