BOSTON (WHDH) -- There were cheers and beers as Samuel Adams celebrated love with a limited edition brew.

The brewery invited newlyweds to sample the new creation and it turned into a real wedding celebration.

One couple planned on getting married in December, but then they got the news that the groom was going to be deployed.

“So he received the email, the Sam Adam’s email, he got it last week, and called me and said ‘Check it out,’” said Karen Smith, the bride. “So we looked at it and we talked about it and said let’s do it!”

“I’m a Sam Adam’s fan so this is great for me,” said the groom.

CEO of Samuel Adams Jim Koch welcomed newlyweds to his brewery Thursday morning saying it was the best-dressed crowd they’ve ever had -- attendees were wearing wedding dresses and tuxedos.

Newlyweds and soon-to-be newlyweds had the chance to sample and purchase Samuel Adams’ Brewlywed Ale, a limited release Belgian-style pale golden ale.

“A bride would make beer for her wedding -- would make a bride ale,” said Koch.

That’s how the idea started. Koch did it for his wedding and said he’s still married, plus he made a beer for his daughter’s wedding.

“We figured, let’s invite brides, grooms, couples down here. We’ll have a justice of the peace, maybe somebody will want to get married,” said Koch.

Sam Adams made 400 cases of the beer, which was only for sale on Thursday.
