MEDFORD, Mass. (WHDH) - A mom and her newborn were resting comfortably Thursday morning after a special delivery in the middle of a traffic jam Wednesday.

Police got a call for a woman going into labor stuck in traffic in Medford. Police redirected traffic and officers stayed on the line with the relative to help the SUV navigate its way in the barracks parking lot. They opened the car door only to find a newborn baby girl already in the arms of her mother.

“She was doing well. She seemed to be doing fine. Both the mother and the child seemed to be doing fine. It was pretty amazing,” said Trooper Keith Segee of the Massachusetts State Police.

Luckily, the birth happened before Wednesday's storm. Mother and baby are doing well.
