BOSTON, Mass. (WHDH) -- Safety concerns shut down construction work on the Tobin Bridge.
The $45million painting and repair project was being done without a functioning fire safety system.
Fire officials from Boston and Chelsea ordered a 'cease-and-desist.'
The Boston Fire Department announced Friday that the entire standpipe system was pressure tested and passed. They said the next step is a flow test which will be done next week.
The Boston Fire Department also said that an outside contractor will put extension on standpipe outlets in the work area. Once they are done, they will test the complete system.
