BOSTON (WHDH) -- Mayor Menino is standing behind embattled schools superintendent Carol R. Johnson.

Several city councilors have questioned Johnson’s leadership after she apologized for not issuing disciplinary action when a headmaster was arrested for domestic assault last year.

Johnson says she should have handled the situation differently.

The mayor says he thinks she has done a great job overall.
