Beat the heat: Hot and cool jobs in the city

BOSTON, Mass. (WHDH) - High temperatures are a sunbather’s delight, but it’s not just fun in the sun for everyone.
Boot camp instructors and their students were feeling the heat at Carson Beach.
“You’ve just got to stay hydrated,” said one.
“We all heard about it, going to be about 90 today, so we were all leery about coming, but we had a great day today. It was warm. Good to get it over with early in the morning. It's already pretty roasty out right now,” said Chris Bears.
For construction workers in the sun all day, enduring the heat wasn’t a choice.
“Just stay hydrated,” said Jay Dapont, “That’s it. So that’s what we do. Got to stay strong.”
But at Brookline Ice, workers sure don’t feel the heat. They’re bundled up and extremely busy. Where they’re working, it’s only 20 degrees.
A single machine in their factory can turn out 150 tons of ice a day.
“We’ve been anticipating this heat wave for about a week now. We've been running these machines 24 hours a day. We have 18 to 20 trucks on the road, stocked up on our dry ice,” said Anthoyn Botta of Brookline Ice Company.
For Brookline Ice, the heat was a welcome start to what they’re hoping is one long, hot summer.
