Neighbor who knew suspects speaks out
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. (WHDH) -- People who knew the suspects in the Boston Marathon bombing, Watertown shootout, the shooting of an MBTA officer and the killing of an MIT officer are spoke out.
7News spoke with the suspects’ neighbor, who speaks Russian. He said he remembers some interesting thing about the brothers.
“Well I saw them pretty often. You live on the same street and you walk and you say hello…the older one was more friendly type. He would say ‘Hello’ and ‘How are you?’ The younger one, I never really kind of noticed him, until this morning,” said Konstantine Evdokimov, a neighbor.
Evdokimov said he noticed a change in the older brother, Tamerlan Tsarnaev.
“The kids never looked religious or anything at all,” said Evdokimov. “Now the parents went back about a year ago and all of the sudden Tamerlan [had this] Taliban-type look, you know? Big beard, headgear, traditional clothing and he was going like that for about, like I said, a year and then all of the sudden a month ago I saw him shaven again, European clothes -- he’s back into his usual routine. It was interesting.”
Evdokimov is still stunned by the revelation he lived across from the suspects.
“It’s surreal. I mean, from Monday on you watch the news, you want the guys who did it to get caught. Never in the world thinking they’ll live across the street from you,” said Evdokimov.
Tamerlan Tsarnaev leaves behind a 3-year-old child.
