Man arraigned in alleged extortion case
BOSTON (WHDH) -- A case of alleged celebrity extortion landed a Lowell man in federal court.
A special agent with the FBI testified in the case Friday.
Family members of Felix Paulino refused to talk about the case against the 34-year-old Lowell man.
In court papers prosecutors say Paulino tried to blackmail an unnamed Boston celebrity he says he caught on tape last year at Veno, a Boston nightclub.
Prosecutors say Paulino contacted the agent for the married celebrity and said he had a two to three minute tape of the celebrity in a private backroom of the venue nightclub touching women and trying to lure them to his room.
In the court papers, the FBI agent says Paulino talked about wanting $20,000 for the tape or he would sell it to TMZ and see it go viral.
But the agent testified Friday that when he finally saw the tape there was nothing incriminating on it -- just the celebrity shaking hands with people and then leaving the club.
Paulino's relatives say he did nothing wrong.
Paulino remains in custody on other charges.
