Man's body found outside Boston South End home
BOSTON (WHDH) -- Boston homicide detectives are looking for answers after a man's body was found Sunday morning outside a South End home.
The man was found wearing a red hat, a brown coat and blue jeans, face down on a set of steps.
“Not something you want to wake up to. I've lived here a good long time and we've never had anything like that happen here before,” said Susan Park.
Police arrived just before 7 a.m., just as some neighbors woke up to see the scene outside their homes.
“I saw the cop cars and crime scene bus,” said a witness.
“You don’t really see anything like that. It’s a pretty peaceful, calm neighborhood. Unexpected, I didn’t really know what was going on at all,” said Sean Burke, a resident.
One woman who didn't want to be on camera says the man was on the steps leading to a downstairs entrance to a house on West Canton Street.
“I didn't know if someone had fallen drunk,” said the woman.
“Hope he didn't freeze to death or whatnot,” said Park.
Police say there were no visible injuries and no signs of trauma. The unexplained death is leaving everyone with questions. The man has still not been identified.
“Someone was found across the street here recently on the stairs dead also- drug overdose. It’s unfortunate,” said Ken Brown, who lives in the South End.
Police are asking anyone with information to contact the Boston Homicide Unit.
