LUNENBURG, Mass. (WHDH) -- A soldier threw her brother a curveball when she returned home from a year-long deployment, and it was one sweet surprise.

The soldier showed up at her brother's baseball game and everybody in attendance witnessed their emotional reunion happen right on the field.

The little-leaguer thought his big sister was coming home on Saturday, but she showed up early.

Home video captured the moment the brother and sister will probably never forget.

“It made this whole year definitely worth it getting that hug,” said Specialist Megan Mills.

Specialist Megan Mills gave her little brother 7-year-old A.J. quite the surprise.

“So I had to go there and hide behind the shack, you know where they do the announcements, and the snacks and stuff and wait until they announce me,” said Specialist Mills.

Specialist Mills showed up at A.J.’s tournament after keeping her arrival a secret.

“I ran and jumped into her arms,” A.J. said.

“I just told him I loved him and asked him if he was happy and he said, ‘Mhm,’ just crying,” Specialist Mills said.

Specialist Mills has been the Middle East and hadn’t had leave in about a year. Even with the 13-year age difference, Specialist Mills and A.J. say they’re best friends.

“I miss seeing her, playing with her, swimming, hanging out with her,” said A.J.

Specialist Mills got to throw the first pitch after their reunion to her brother.

“Not being able to come visit whenever I wanted to to see him, maybe play a baseball game was hard and finally getting to see him play after that was amazing,” Specialist Mills said.

Specialist Mills will be home for a week.
