BOSTON (WHDH) -- All senior cats -- ages 9 years and older -- will be available for no fee during the first half of July at the MSPCA’s adoption centers.

The “Declare Your Love” senior cat adoptathon aims to place the 30-plus senior cats in the MSPCA’s care into new homes. The adoptathon runs from July 1 to July 14.

Most of the cats up for adoption have already lived in a home with other pets, are litter-box trained, up-to-date on shots and are spayed/neutered.

The standard adoption fee for senior cats is $95.

All three of the MSPCA’s adoption centers in Jamaica Plain, Methuen and Centerville are participating in the campaign.

Funding for the "Declare Your Love" adoptathon has been provided by the Ivan Smith Adoption Challenge, which is designed to educate adopters about the variety of adoptable animals available at the MSPCA, and to support adoption promotions to find homes for them.
