BOSTON (WHDH) -- Fans flocked to movies theaters to see the much anticipated Batman film “Dark Knight Rises.”

The last part of the Batman trilogy hit theaters Thursday night. Fans were dressed to the nines in Batman garb as they awaited the midnight showings.

“I can’t close my mouth. This is relaxed. There are two elastic hooks in my mouth that are an elastic band around my ear holding my mouth open,” said one man.

Director Christopher Nolan brings his vision of Batman to an end with the “Dark Knight Rises,” the third and final installment.

“Every good thing must come to an end. And if they end it now, they can’t screw it up anymore,” one man said.

Some die-hard fans even sent death threats to people that criticized the movie forcing the move review site RottenTomatoes to close down its comment section. And on ebay, tickets were being auctioned off at $300.

“This was supposed to be that dark, gritty, realistic, real Batman,” one fan said.

The movie played on all 19 screens at the Loews Theater in Boston.
