LOWELL, Mass. (AP) -- Novelist Stephen King will give a talk about writing and read from his works at University of Massachusetts Lowell.

The Friday evening event will feature King sharing a conversation with fellow best-selling author Andre Dubus III, who teaches at the school.

King is expected to talk about his experiences as a writer, discuss his creative process and offer advice to those interesting in writing.

At the end of the event, King and Dubus will sign the armchairs they were sitting in for a raffle that will raise student scholarship money.

The talk is part of UMass Lowell's new Chancellor's Speaker Series.

Earlier Friday, King also will give a special class for the school's creative writing majors.
